The Tenets of our Faith as stated in our Bylaws

What we believe. Applied directly from the Word of God.

God

- We believe in one eternal God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe God is Holy and is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

Jesus

- We believe that Jesus is fully God and entered human form by the conception of The Holy Spirit and was miraculously born of the Mary who was a virgin. We believe Jesus lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose again, and sits now at the right hand of God as our advocate. We believe that Jesus will personally return and that his return is imminent.

Holy Spirit

- We believe that the Holy Spirit is God. We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father in Jesus' name to teach and remind us of Christ's words and to convict us of sin. We believe the Holy Spirit brings about the new birth and at the point of salvation, comes to live inside the believer and seals our salvation permanently. We believe the Holy Spirit provides the power to overcome temptation, defeat sin, produce righteousness, and provide unique gifts for each believer to build up the body and carry out the purposes of the Church.

We believe that all people are created in the image of God. We believe that because of Adam and Eve's sin, all people are sinful by nature and choice. We believe people, unless they have experienced forgiveness in Christ, are lost and alienated from God. We believe that all human life is sacred and begins at conception, that mankind consists of two genders, male and female, and the only legitimate marriage, as written in scripture, is the joining of one naturally born male and one naturally born female.

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ. We believe Jesus 'death on the cross is the only payment for our sins that God will accept. We believe that all people who believe in Christ are justified by Christ's blood and enter into a personal relationship with God without the need of any other mediator. We believe that God adopts into His Family all those who repent of their sin and accept by faith the Lord Jesus.

We believe that the Church's primary purpose is to glorify Christ. We believe the universal church is made up of all who believe in the Lord Jesus. We believe the Scripture commands believers to gather in community to devote themselves to worship, fellowship, ministry, outreach, prayer, the teaching of His Word, and to observe the ordinances of baptism and communion, We believe that God has gifted each ministry partner of the local church to fulfill the purposes of the church. We believe that every local church is free to govern its own affairs. We believe that each church should provide a biblical leadership structure that will provide direction to the church as it fulfills its purpose as well as accountability, discipline, preservation of unity, and care for the body.

Our Leadership

Pastor Troy Bishop

Pastor Troy married his bride, Kimberly, in 1986. They have 3 children who are married with families of their own now. Pastor Troy began a life in ministry in 1987 as a youth minister. After 5 years as a youth minister, Pastor Troy knew there was another calling on his life, to be a preacher. Pastor Troy led his first congregation in 1992, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brookville, Indiana, for 13 years. In early 2005, Pastor Troy went to Western Avenue Baptist Church in Connersville, Indiana as senior pastor for 10 years. In June of 2015 Pastor Troy was called to Sunnycrest Baptist. In 2025 Pastor Troy began a new ministry opportunity at Redemption Road Church and looks forward to the many years ahead. During his 38 years of ministry Pastor Troy has also earned his degrees. He has a bachelor's in Theology and a master's in Apologetics. For the first 18 years of his ministry, Pastor Troy was bi-vocational working as an Industrial Journeyman Electrician while earning his ministry degrees as well. If asked he would tell you that every hour worked, sacrificed, and spent learning was worth everything so God could make him into a fit shepherd. Working made him understand the sacrifices of the congregation. Learning drew him closer to God and made him fit for the ministry. Leading different styles of people has taught him about the love of Christ, grace, and the true nature of a broken sinful world we live in. His vision for the people, Pastor Troy says "Go, serve, and love. We are to be the hands and feet of Christ. But, we can't do this till we become true disciples of the word. My goal is to teach and preach in such a way that everyone lives out Christ, the Christ we see in scripture."

Why Redemption Road?

The name "Redemption Road" and the slogan "The Narrow Way" are rooted in Matthew 7, where we find the exclusive nature of the invitation of Jesus articulated by the Savior through a series of short parables that have a strong common thread. All of these short stories convey a simple truth with devastating clarity: there are only two paths to choose—life through Jesus or destruction. God offers no other options. You choose the way; you do not choose the consequences. Jesus, who said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6), is the narrow gate to life. The broad way, though tempting, leads to destruction. We exist to love God, love others, share the gospel, and make disciples, guiding people to the narrow gate and walking with them in faith.

You must choose between two gates: the narrow gate, which is Jesus, and the wide gate of sin. The narrow gate leads to the narrow way of life, a path you enter alone by faith in Christ. It’s hard, filled with persecution and struggle, but Christ empowers you to persevere. The wide gate leads to the broad way, a superhighway that’s easy but ends in destruction. Not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord,” enters the kingdom. Sincere faith in Jesus, doing the Father’s will, leads to salvation. Insincere professions—claiming faith while relying on religion or impressive deeds like prophesying or miracles—don’t save. Jesus will say, “I never knew you,” to those who never entered the narrow gate. Religion is not a substitute for faith in Christ.
